The physical symptoms of terror and exhilaration are exactly and precisely identical: sweaty palms, racing pulse, shallow breathing, eyes wide open.
If you were hooked up to a physiological monitor a clinician would not be able to tell whether you were terrified or exhilarated. The only difference between the two is the name that you give to the symptoms.
